Jesner v. Arab Bank

Plaintiffs are victims of terrorist attacks in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza.

They filed a lawsuit against Arab Bank of Jordan, founded in Jerusalem, claiming the bank held accounts for known terrorists which were used to pay families of martyrs in suicide attacks (see SCOTUSblog’s Argument Preview for more information about the case).

The plaintiffs filed the lawsuit in United States court under the Alien Tort Statute, a unique law allowing aliens to sue for civil damages in U.S. courts.

This case is about whether the plaintiffs can sue the bank – a corporate defendant – under the Alien Tort Statute.
